Cut to the Chase is a free Android app that helps you find a deliberately hidden frame in a short-form video (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts). This page explains what happens to your data when you use it.

The short version

All video analysis happens on your device. There's no account to create, no server that stores your videos or links, and no analytics or tracking currently built into the app.

What the app does with a link or video

When you share a link (or pick a video already on your device), the app resolves it to a playable video stream and analyzes it entirely on-device — decoding frames, comparing them, and showing you the results. Nothing about that video, its frames, or its source link is sent to us or stored on any server we control.

Resolving a shared link does involve your device contacting the source platform (TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube) directly to fetch the video stream, the same way any video player or browser would. That platform's own privacy policy governs what it does with that request — Cut to the Chase doesn't add any tracking of its own on top of it.

Permissions the app requests

The app asks for permission to read a video you choose from your device, and to save extracted frames back to your gallery. Neither permission is used for anything beyond that immediate action.

Analytics and crash reporting

The app does not currently include any analytics or crash-reporting SDK. If that changes in a future version (to help us understand real-world usage and fix bugs), this policy will be updated first to say what's collected and why.

Third-party platforms

Cut to the Chase is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by TikTok, Instagram, Meta, YouTube, or Google. It's an independent tool that helps you look more closely at content you already have access to.

Children's privacy

Cut to the Chase is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone — this applies regardless of age, since the app collects nothing in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if a future version adds analytics or an ad network — we'll update the date above and describe the change here.
